Floods

• Turn Around, Don’t Drown! ®
• Avoid walking or driving through flood waters.
• If lightning occurs, get inside a hard top automobile and keep the windows up.
• Move immediately to higher ground.
• If floodwaters rise around your car but the water is not moving, abandon the car and move to higher ground. Do not leave the car and enter moving water.
• Avoid camping or parking along streams, rivers, and creeks during heavy rainfall.

Thunderstorms

• Move to a sturdy building
• Get out of boats and avoid water.
• Do not drive over bridges that are over fast-moving floodwaters.
• Unplug unneccesary appliances.

Blizzards

• Make sure home is well insulated.
• Make sure you have a working carbon monoxide detector.
• Shut off water valves.
• Keep fire extinguisers on hand.
